Which tea's are best for increasing overall wellness?!
Answers: Lately ive been thinking about starting to drink tea instead of soda and other bad stuff. I hear it can work wonders for the body. Any suggestions on which type of tea's i should try? Preferably flavored? I'm not a big fan of the "fresh cut grass" tasting stuff, but if its truely as good as people say it is for you i suppose i could choke it down.
All kinds of tea are good for you. White tea has the highest level of antioxidants, and it has a little natural sweetness to it, but it's more expensive than other kinds. Stash has a green & white blended tea that's quite nice and sold in some grocery stores.
Green tea has the second-highest level of antioxidants. There are all sorts of flavored green teas. The ones with fruit flavors (lemon green, etc.) are usually more palatable for new green tea drinkers.
Oolong is between green and black on the antioxidant scale. It's not my favorite, but some people like it.
Black tea has the lowest amount of antioxidants, but it's still good for you. It has a more robust flavor, and you can add milk to it if you like.
Tea's antioxidant properties may fight cancer and infections.
Stash and Republic of Tea (sold at World Market) sell a wide range of teas. Celestial Seasonings has some nice ones, like honey lemon ginseng, and that can be found in most supermarkets.
Hope you find a tea you like. If you can't stand any of it, don't drink it! Just drink more water instead of soda.
green tea definitely.
Lisa is definitely correct. The less oxidized the tea is (green tea) the better for you. I understand about green tea though, I can't drink much of it either as I'm an Earl Grey fan (black tea with bergamot). You can drink an oolong or white tea. I'd try any oolong first as it is naturally a sweeter tasting tea. Don't pour boiling water over it, but rather water that is close to boiling. Let it steep about 4 minutes cuz leaving the tea in your cup/teapot longer does not make it taste better, but rather pulls more of the tannic (bitter) taste out of the tea. On your store shelf you should see Stash Tea or Tazo's....either of these oolongs are good. Good luck!
drinking tea should be part of one's healthy lifestyle. It shouldn't be drunk for unexpected miracles or prevention of cancer or disease. It should be enjoyed for it's culture, taste, and intricacies. The health part of tea is just an added bonus. You're more likely to stick with drinking tea for the enjoyment of it, rather than purely for the health benefits, or else you will be utterly disappointed.
