Anyone care if Starbucks lays off 6oo employees? LOL?!

Question: Why the heck does this coffee shop make the headlines? If there were no Starbucks, we would go to McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts for coffee. By cutting 600 people they will enable them to find a better paying job.

I can't argue with that! McD has better coffee anyway.

I'd feel for the people who lost their jobs. I know a few folks who work at Starbucks and my understanding is they are treated pretty well and paid reasonably. But layoffs typically aren't at the store level, they're at the corporate level.

No dun-kin donuts has great coffee? Starbucks over priced but to be honest I love their drinks . one of my friends from college worked their during college and now she has her own store so yes I feel sorry for the people but as we know it's in the hands of the economy.

It's exactly like the better looking missing people make national headlines more than the ugly people. Same thing, selective journalism. Do you think if Natalie Halloway was a skinny geeky nerdy girl, the press still would have covered her disappearance?

I currently go to college and work at a Starbucks, and I must say that Starbucks is a great job.
If I chose to, I would be able to get (even for just working part-time):
health and dental insurance
Invest in their stocks
401k plan
Free coffee every week(no need to buy crappy coffee ever again)

Plus, it is an incredibly fun job. Now, I don't want to work there for the rest of my life, but for a college job, it is pretty darn decent.

Oh, and I think anytime a large company lays off so many people, it always makes the headlines.

I don't care, I have a thing against them and their business practices.

I hope the staff can get better paying jobs elsewhere.
