Question: I have been sick ALL DAY. I kind of have the feeling of a hangover except for the fact that i didn't drink. When i sit up i feel sooooooo dizzy, and i haven't been hungry all day. I've tried to drink water, thera flu, and orange juice at times and every time i did so i threw up . So my mom got me some ginger ale cause she said it helps when your sick , but im afraid to drink it. Does it really work ?

Dear Loveasia,

It sure couldn't hurt.

The worst that can happen is that you will throw it up, right?

Little sips are best.

Your mom is correct that ginger does soothe the stomach. Ginger ale was initially created for that purpose years and years ago.

[Plus, should you really question your mom? = )

What I have found as I have grown is that my mom love and cares for me when noone else does.]

I hope you feel better soon.

God bless,

Ginger ale makes you feel better. The first time I tried it when I had a sick stomach I felt instantly better.

yes so does reg coke

yeah definitely. orange juice never really works well for me.
seven up and ginger ale!!

I now 7-up makes you feel better, and they are basectly the same so i'd say yes. Ginger ale HELPS you feel better

It actually does make you feel better. Not only is it fizzy, ginger has a long reputation for easing stomach ailments. My grandmother used to heat it up in a pot and give it to me hot.

Ginger ale is used as a home remedy to prevent or alleviate motion sickness, to relieve upset stomachs and to soothe coughs and sore throats. It contains high levels of sugar, which can cause an osmotic shift that can affect the bowels more than the desired effect of the ginger.

What i wouldn't give for a nice tall refreshing glass of ginger ale right now!!!! your mum sounds cool...if you don't want her i'll have her.....my mum live 6 hours away (too far to take care of me when i'm sick) by all means..... drink the stuff....what harm can it do?

It definitely makes you feel better when i was younger i used to get car sick a lot so my mom would always give me ginger ale and i'd feel better same with the ginger beer (non - alcoholic ) by bunderberg in the supermarkets.

Ginger ale usually helps with nausea ... probably because of the fizz. Most ginger ales are formulated with artificial flavorings so they don't contain any ginger at all. It sounds like you're getting the flu. If you can't even hold water down, don't try the ginger ale. However, maybe tomorrow you can try to sip some really cold Gatorade. That will help you feel better as it replaces a lot of things your body loses when you have vomiting or diarrhea. Hope you feel better soon!

If your stomach is rejecting plain water, ginger ale isn't likely to help much. It does help if you are slightly nauseated, but not when the flu is making everything come up. Sucking on ice cubes until you can see a doctor is the best advice I have for this situation.

yea. it's ginger.
i always drink it when im sick and i get better the next day!

Yup, that and Sprite works!

i love giger ale when i m sick!it settles the stomache and it will also stop u from getting dehydrated!don't drink it fast though just sip it!hope ya feel better!

OK. As far as ginger ale is concerned, (or anything for that matter,) you shouldn't ingest anything for at least TWO HOURS AFTER VOMITING! That being said, don't try it until then. As far as Ginger Ale as a stomach-settling remedy, it's OK if it's FLAT (also coca-cola with the carbination stirred out.) Even then, drink only 1-2 teaspoons of it every 15-20 mins, and increase the amount gradually. Check out the source I have provided. It is more in regard to vomiting remedies, but also adresses your upset stomach issues as well. Get well soon! God bless!

yes, ginger ale settles your stoumach. you could also use coke or sprite as well

i hope you feel better soon =]

Yes it will help settle your stomach

any soda makes me feel better =D
