Will putting milk in a coffee maker ruin it? (Want to use a water/milk combo to make a cappuccino-like drink)?!

Question: I don't have the space for a cappuccino maker and don't want to make them that often, but I thought of using part water and part milk in a regular coffee maker, instead of just water. Normally steamed milk makes it taste better.
Would putting milk in a regular coffee maker ruin the coffee maker or be impossible to clean?

it will make it very difficult to clean if you add milk to the machine, and you won't get what you want. The best way to achieve the coffee you are after is to make a strong brew of coffee and pour your coffee over 1/3 to 1/2 a cup of hot milk (you can microwave it in the cup - just don't boil it)
hope this helps

That's kind of interesting...I'm thinking the milk would scald on the inner works of the coffee maker, eventually rendering it gross and useless. My suggestion would be to warm the milk in a small saucepan and then whisk it until it's foamy. It would be a bit of work, but easier than ruining your coffee maker.

milk contains proteins. those proteins will clot and stick to the innards of the coffee maker and cleaning it will be difficult.

if you ever heated milk in a small saucepan, you know how hard it is to clean the pan aftewards; imagine how hard it will be cleaning a coffeemaker full of milk residue.

Kinda like putting a cheese sandwich in the regular toaster. Defeats the "convenience" part.
