Is it better to drink water fast or slow?!


Question: This morning i was drinking water and i told my friend that i was making an effort to drink at least five glasses of water per day. She then said that i was drinking the water so fast that it would go staright through me and therefore have no effect at all but if i drank it slow that my body would soak up all the minerals.

So is it better to drink water fast, or slow or does it not make a difference? And is what she saying completly untrue?

Drink it slowly. Drinking too fast can cause cramps and it is easier for the body to absorb the fluids when in small amounts. It's not really good to drink so fast that you can hear and feel it sloshing around in your belly. It's better to sip on it throughout the day....

i dont think she has the slightest clue what shes talking about!

although i think it would still be better if you took your water at intervals throughout the day, not all in the morning or whatever time! then you wont get a bloated feeling in your stomach!

Drinking too fast will give you cramps, but it won't go through you any faster. Most water doesn't have any minerals in it anyway, just hydrogen and oxygen.

Well I think your friend was wrong.
Everything takes a specific amount of time to get through your system if it has been drank fast or slow.
Maybe don't chug the water, you might swallow air and that can be uncomfortable.
But if you drink a bottle or glass an hour you should be alright!

You should always dink slow if you drink fast it will make you fell sick. if you drink to much water fast you can throw up

probably slow. no need to drink it all in the morning. its 8 glasses PER DAY not per morning. so relax, take your time. 4 in the morning 4 in the afternoons and into night.

She was right about one thing. You can actually drown yourself by drinking too much water too fast. There was a woman who was in a contest drinking water and she drown, this is not a joke.
But, normally you should drink 8 glasses a water throughout the day. It will keep your body hydrated and in general you will feel and look better.
