Starbucks is closing today for three hours for "remedial barista training"....Do you think you've been rip!

Question: off from a less than adequately trained barista on your specialty drink?

Answers: off from a less than adequately trained barista on your specialty drink?

We've BEAN had. ;-)

I think I get ripped off anytime I buy ANYTHING from Starbucks...

All you Starbucks squatters should get over it. Dunkin' Donuts coffee is superior to Starbucks anyways.

Starbucks is sure soft soaping this ..

In a statement released on Monday, Starbucks Chairman and Chief Executive Howard Schultz said the effort is part of the company's push to "renew its focus on the customer."

In other words, the new training could be seen as a way to battle the competition. McDonald's is launching a coffeehouse program at more than 14,000 of its restaurants, and Dunkin' Donuts recently added espresso-style drinks to its menu.

Then again, those three hours could allow people with a caffeine monkey on their back to find different outlets for their coffee. Coffee Beanery stores are looking at the closure as an opportunity to steal away some Starbucks customers.

"The fact that Starbucks is focusing on espresso standards and customer service is showing the whole industry how important both of those issues are," said a statement from Dale Link, director of training at Coffee Beanery headquarters. "We focus on that from the beginning with each of our franchisees."

I am not a big shopper of Starbucks drinks, but I think they do rip people off (with or without training).
But really, how much difference can there be between a correctly made coffee drink and one that is not??!

Any company that is 'concerned' about what MickyD is doing has a problem to begin with.
Breakfast Lunch Dinner and a cup 'o joe with a clown?
Or better yet how about a cup of coffee and a donut with a guy with not only a split personality, but split person, "I've got to make the donuts."..."I've made the donuts." anybody...???
face it folks if you are concerned about your coffee would would be going to places that roast the coffee on the spot, AND know what they are doing by the time they get in front of the Espresso machine with a customers order.
Otherwise....Swill is swill.....even if the Queen mother is making it....

As a Barista at Starbucks. I can tell you that you have not been ripped off. We all have had training on how to make the drinks. From the time that we have been hired up to now. We all get coached and re-coached, go to classes to make sure that your drinks come out to the best of our standards. The class for tonight is to make sure and re-focus our attention on the drinks. To insure that there are no short-cuts being taken while making your drinks. To make your drink and your visit more enjoyable. In sort you have not be ripped off because we have not been trained. We have and will continue to be trained. Not only today but constantly.

The reason why Starbucks "rips people off" is because you're getting a quality drink. We use fresh and up-to-date ingredients. We make your drinks with care and we enjoy doing it...that's why we're back there! If you don't like how Starbucks "rips you off" then go to another coffee shop and see if it's as good at Starbucks.
