Hot enough for sun tea?!

Question: How hot does it have to be outside to make sun tea? It is going to be low 70's in California the next few days, and I'm thinking of making some. Would it be hot enough?

That should be warm enough. Make sure you use a super clean jar.

I dont think so

Sun tea is not very good. It lacks essential body. And the essential oils. Black tea truly requires rapidly boiling water to leach out the oils and flavonoids necessary for excellent tea. Green sun tea might be okay, but you are "cooking" the tea and this will impart an "off" taste. Plus, the body won't be there. For green tea, use water around 190 degrees. Up to 210. 210 for oolong. Boiling. Really boiling!!!! for black tea. Loose tea s best, but good tea bags or tea filters really can work quite well. Cheers!

tea can be made any temp above freezing ( 32* ) it just takes longer tan at 70*

It should heat up enough in the jar if it's directly in the sun , check to make sure it's not gonna be cloudy tomorrow

as long as it gets enough sun, it should be ok. You're using the sun's rays which should be warm enough to brew the tea over a long period of time. It will work.
