When I was a kid I was allowed water, milk and juice and on;y had 'pop' at parties - I am so grateful to my parents for this. I have perfect, natural teeth, I was never hyperactive, and I am and alway have been very healthy with no problems at all.

Why would you overload your kids with sugar and caffeine? I say give it a miss.

great.
let them drink alcohol instead.

Just don't let them drink the ones with caffeine in if your worried... read the label it will say!

Yes.

yes, im 16 and i LOVE pop..actually i think im going to go get some sprite right now

OMG YES! Soft drinks have tons of bad chemicals as well as empty calories. And they just found out that diet soda actually increase weight not help diminish it. Just say no. Go natural drink water.

Yes, soda is not good for anyone and kids really don't need it they just like it. I would say don't keep it in the house. Just let them have it for special occasions or if you go out to eat.

Try to encourage them to drink juice, milk, and water. It really is better for you.

Actually, it is ok to drink some softdrink, but it should be regularly. Make sure too that it isn't too much. Hope I helped!

I'm a teen and i have about 1 soft drink a month. Its just the way i've been brought up. We don't even buy the stuff.

I think as a treat softdrinks are good, but not all the time.

I think children should be encouraged to drink more things like Orange Juice, Apple Juice, Or even just water. And low-sugar cordials.

I'm with you. There is just nothing good about it, so why bother?

However if we are not allowing them to drink, Still they will try too have it without our knowledge.
But better make them understand about the side effects and limit them taking it. Saying you can take only this much for the day you shouldn't exceed it like that.

I have 4 kids and only 1 likes soda. This is because the others are into ports and running and don't drink carbonated drinks to avoid craps. Another reason is we don't buy it.

The one child that loves soda can't drink it except for special occasions because he starts bouncing off the walls.

Soda, chips, and snacks are all just crap. They provide nothing of value to your body and likely cause more harm than good. I usually have a soda about once a week..if that.

Oh and for those who say that diet soda causes weight gain READ THE STUDY! The study concluded that people who dink diet sodas are usually overweight. It does not conclude the soda caused it. Thats like concluding Cadillacs cause old age because people who drive them are old. This was started on the news a few month back...another example of our wonderful media. Ratings over reality

i think its fine once in awhile but i wouldnt let it be the only thing my kids drank ya know

nobut you should tell them to drink in limited way

I would definitely discourage it. There is no real advantage to soft drinks over water for anyone, child or otherwise. Children will still want soft drinks, due to taste, sugar, and peer/advertising pressure, but you can't go wrong with water.

absolutely....there is absolutely no reason for a child to drink soda--and 'because it tastes good' isn't a reason. If my kids want something sweet, there's fruit in the fridge!

I would say encourage them to drink it, force it down their throats. They never do what the parents want them to do anyways. While your at it leave the Vodka bottle out, and make sure you fill the pipe this time.

god, kids drank soda for years and nothing happened to them!
let your kids have soda, don't be so overprotective, let them be kids!

Yes we should, children shouldn't be drinking caffeinated soft drinks.
