Why do i drink so much milk? Is there something wrong with me?!

Question: I'm 35 and been drinking 2%milk since i was 20..But over the years it seems that i'm drinking more and more..I have it with all meals and in between..Some times im craving it so bad i cant even wait to get home from the store , i'll open in my car and just start gulping it down..I dont drink alcohol but i do drink bout a quart of water a day..If i go for days without drinking it i become very nurvous and tired so its hard to go without it...On somedays i can go thru a gallon no prob.. Im about 6'2 195 and have been at the same weight since i was in high school.

So, Is there something wrong with me? Should i consider maybe cutting back on the amount i drink? I honestly think i'd go insane if i didn't have milk to drink on a regular basis.. What do i do?

I used to be and at times am still like that. I could easily drink a gallon of milk a day. Until I did some research and bought some organic milk from the health food store. You will usually crave what ever it is that your body is lacking. With any vitamin or nutrient you need there is usually another that you need with it in order to digest it properly. If your are craving milk I will bet that you not only need calcium but also magnesium and another I can't think of at the moment. I stopped drinking regular milk from the grocery store a long time ago, if I'm low on money I will get it but only sometimes. Calcium cannot be properly absorbed by the body without also have magnesium in your diet. I think the third one is niacin, but not sure. Find a good health food store that sells all natural supplements. Ask them the 2 main supplements you need to digest calcium to get the maximum benefit from it and take those along with natural milk or a calcium supplement if you don't like real milk. Store bought milk has been processed which removes its nutrients and they have steroids in them as well as other things we don't really want to know. If you do that, within two weeks you should notice a difference in your need for milk. Your body is simply telling you what it needs, and sometime what we buy at a grocery store doesn't give us what we are lacking. Hope this helps.

I go through periods of serious milk drinking too.
I've read somewhere that milk rehydrates the body a lot more efficient than water. Something to do with mineral salts ... maybe your body is wanting the calcium in it ....

I don't think there's anything wrong with you, you're probably just addicted to the sugar that's in milk. Think of people who are addicted to coffee and pop, they drink it nonstop too and they aren't considered weird. I wouldn't worry too much, at most you could try switching to 1% for less fat but I think you're normal :)

You like milk.

You shouldn't drink too much milk, it's as bad for your bones as it is good.

More power to you. I think more people should be addicted to milk instead of coffee and soda. I don't see anything wrong with it. I drink quite a bit of milk myself. I feel better after drinking it. There are some sugars, which give a little energy boost, some fat, which helps to keep that energy going longer, and it's filling, which makes it way more satisfying than plain water. Good for you!

If it's just 2% milk you might as well be drinking water - there's so little fat or calcium in it I'm surprised you can't see through it ! ! !

milk does a body good

I *do* go insane if I don't have milk in my house for very long and can't get to the store. :) (I just bought some of the weird powdered stuff to hold in reserve, actually!) I think you just like milk. Your poison of choice could be a lot worse. . . .

I don't know that I've ever managed an entire gallon in a day, although I think I've done 75% of one more than a couple of times in the warmer months. I know when I was still at home, 3 people could very easily go through a gallon a day -- yes, it was a *family* of milk drinkers. I have yet to figure out how people can manage to only go grocery shopping once a week or every other week -- people sometimes look at you a bit funny with just 2 gallons.
You might consider going to less than 2% if that really bothers you. Personally, I was somehow mildly allergic to milk fat. . . so skim was a no-brainer for me. The stuff's also a tad bit cheaper since you're drinking enough of it for that to matter.

wow. yeah i said wow you should sign up for world of warcraft. but i suggest you start drugs or cigarettes to get your mind off the milk. thats what i did and i just got out of jail after 25 years. OH YEAH DUFF MAN!
