Are plastic water bottles hazardous to our health?!

Question: Although I do reuse my water bottles because of the fact that I want to help the environment, I've seen articles on research done behind the health issues with water bottles.

The plastic, polyethylene terephthalate also known as PET is used in these bottles contains a potentially carcinogenic element called DEHA. The bottles are safe for one-time, as repeated washing and rinsing can cause the plastic to break down and the carcinogens (cancer-causing chemical agents) to leak into the water you're drinking. Although, I haven't personally heard of actual proven scientific evidence to this matter, I would just suggest to skip the water bottle and purchase a stainless steal one.

If you aren't still convinced, one good thing I see from purchasing a stainless steel bottle is that you're less likely to just forget it anywhere or accidentally throw it away in the bin. :)

Hope this helps!

only if you're trying to swallow the bottle, too...

They are bad to the environment though ;)

I used to think not. But recent medical studies show, that for some plastics, various chemicals do leach into the water over time. So yes, I suppose long term exposure may well be bad for you.

Prolonged use of plastic (water bottles eg) can leach out phaeto-hormones rumoured to activate trans gender changes in humans.

i heard reusing plastic bottles too much can be bad because it collects germs. Its true because i smelled a used bottle that i had for water and it smelled NASTY!

yes... many are unaware of poisoning caused by re-using bottles. not a good idea, in a nutshel, the plastic called polyethelene terepthalate or PET used in these bottles contains a potentially carcigenic element (something calleddiethylhydroxylamine or DEHA).repetaing washing can cause the plastic to breakdown and the carcinogens is a cancer-causing chemical agents.

yes plastic bottles are really hazardous to your health.,because it has many chemicals and since the water is exposed to it, it is contaminated..specially now that there are rumors that some plastics have formalin..

when the water bottle is frozen..

check this site:

it will tell you why.. hope this helps. good luck!
