Why is Coca Cola so addictive?!

Question: And can you give any advice of how to stop drinking it?

Answers: And can you give any advice of how to stop drinking it?

Coca Cola is addictive in 2 primary ways. First, there is the drug caffine, which is a psychoactive stimulant drug. Because caffeine is primarily an antagonist of the central nervous system's receptors for the neurotransmitter adenosine, the bodies of individuals who regularly consume caffeine adapt to the continual presence of the drug by substantially increasing the number of adenosine receptors in the central nervous system.
The second way in which it gets you is simply through the amount of sugar in it. Sugar is pure fuel for us humans. We have evolved in such a way that means that we crave anything that gives us energy - do bare in mind that people in the developed world still starved to death 70 years ago. Because of this genetic predisposition, sugar is a natural crave.

Its the caffiene in it, try drinking caffiene-free cola and then just cut down. Only buy so much bottles/tins a week and when they are finished dont buy any more, til the next time.

It contains caffeine, and alot of sugar, both of which are addictive. the only way to stop is to go cold turkey, you don't miss it after a while. Good luck :)

CAFF ENE IS THE MAIN INGREDIENT TO KEEP ANYONE WANTING ANOTHER COCA COLA.

Its the caffeine thats in it. Just try and stop drinking it! There isn't a rehab you could go into to!!

Many drugs including alcohol, and cannabis are addictive to people in our society but have you noticed that certain cultures can take alcohol in moderation at meal- times without needing th substance for an emotional relief. Caffeine is the drug in coke cola whih makes it addictive, originally the recipie to coke contained real cocaine and was very addictive. Many prescription drugs could be termed as addictive however people take a different attitude towards them and this is why they are safer. Not because the chemicals ae less harmful, it is because they are taken in a non addictive manner with an intent to cure and nothing else.

Because it's got cocaine in it.*

it is not 'addictive' per se

although, anything can be addictive, mentally

before anyone answers this question, intelligently, they would have to know the nature of your addiction.
do you feel a 'high', drinking it and a 'low' when you dont have it?
does it give you something that other colas dont?
what symptoms do you get if you dont have it?
is there a diffeence between diet or caffeine free varieties - to rule out the sugar rush and the caffeine buzz (lets face it, you could get those from an espresso)

advice to stop drinking it............ dont buy it

Read what it does to coins. That might start you thinking about what it does to your insides. Switch to Pepsi Max. It has no sugar and therefore is not going to cause you to get fat from all those access kilojoules. After drinking Pepsi I rarely want coke.

contains caffeine .....
to stop drinking coke don't buy it ^_^

Because it has caffeine in it which is addicting.. I am completely addicted. I stopped for like the hole summer and then decided I couldn't do it and started drinking it again.

It has caffiene in it so that will go a long way into making you want more. Plus the high sugar in it too.

It also has artificial sweeteners in it - just do an online search on them and that will soon put you off!
