What's the difference if any, between UHT milk and the other kinds?!

Question: UHT; this is sometimes called Long Life , as the milk is homgenised, then given Ultra Heat Treatment, rapidly cooled and aseptically packaged. Unopened, it keeps for up to 6 months out of the fridge.

PASTEURISED ;

This mild heat treatment destroys any harmful bacteria which may be present and improves the keeping qualities of the milk, while having a negligible effect on it`s nutritional value. It will keep for 1-2 days in a cool place, or 3-4 days in the fridge.

ORDINARY;

untreated milk must come from brucellous accredited herds, be bottled on the farm where it was produced and sol by licensed distributors. It must be clearly labelled `raw unpasteurised milk`.

POWDERED; is produced by evaporation of water from milk by heat to produce solids containing 5 per cent or less moisture. Both skimmed and semi-skimmed milk to which veg fat has been added (known as `filled` milk) are available in powdered form.

EVAPOARATED; this type is concentrated homogenised milk which does not contain added sugar. It is sterilised in the can and its final concentration is about twice that of the original milk.

CONDENSED; is made from whole,semi-skimmed or skimmed milk with added cane sugar. After processing, condensed milk has a concentration of at least twice that of original milk and unopened will keep almost indefinitely.

its the process !
UHT milk can be kept longer without refrigeration (unopened )

UHT has been subjected to much higher temperatures than pasteurised milk. As a result, it keeps longer, and tastes more disgusting.

UHT milk has been ultra heat treated which means that is is, basically, long life and does not need to be kept refridgerated. It comes in full fat, semi-skimmed and skimmed just like ordinary milk.

The only other difference is taste........pasteurized milk has a better taste
