For medical reasons I can't drink alcohol. What "grown up" drinks are there that I can drink?!

Question: I can't stand sweet drinks that are aimed at primarily at children. I'm looking for something that will suit a more adult palate.

How about a Virgin Bloody Mary.

Here is a recipe:

Virgin Mary (non-alcoholic)
From Colleen Graham,

As a non-alcoholic version of the Bloody Mary, the Virgin Mary is a tomato juice drink that you can drink anytime. It's the ultimate spicy drink for healthy breakfast or brunch. You can also make this with clamato juice for a variation of a Bloody Caesar.
INGREDIENTS:

* 3 oz tomato juice
* 1/2 oz lemon juice
* 1 dash of Worcestershire sauce
* celery salt
* ground pepper
* hot pepper or Tabasco sauce
* celery stalk for garnish
* pickle garnish for garnish (optional)

PREPARATION:

1. Build the liquid ingredients into a highball glass over ice cubes.
2. Mix well.
3. Add the seasonings to taste.
4. Garnish with the celery stalk.

Drink water. Yeesh...

try BLOODY water?

i dunno how u spell it
and u can get it from tesco
but it goes along the lines of:

'shlur'

wow thats very hard,, try virgin drinks.. fruit drinks?

You could try some club soda mixed drinks. Club soda with orange juice is something you could try. My parents usually add a little gin to theirs, but you could easily not include that and get the same effect. There are probably a ton of alcoholic mixed drinks that you could just negate the alcohol from, and still have the substance of the drink. Just ask the bartender next time you are out. He (or she) probably makes non-alcoholic mixed drinks all the time.

Appletize is fizzy and refreshing looks like wine and doesn't taste like pop .

Tonic Water with Ice and Slice of Lemon. Tastes like Vodka and tonic.....Ideal when you have to be the one driving.

herbal tea,club soda,smoothies
i have been tea total for almost 5 years
i don't miss at all!

There are several fruit based non-alcoholic drinks available from supermarkets Schler being the most popular

i prefer seltzer with a splash of cranberry juice. the question i have is why do you need an adult non alcoholic drink? i dont drink alcoholic beverages and in social situations i drink what i drink every day. nothing wrong with ordering a soda, juice, iced tea, or coffee. lots of people dont drink and your friends will love having a designated driver or at least someone sober to save them in awkward situations.

Most supermarkets and pubs now stock a good variety of non alchoholic wines and beers. When they were first introduced, they were pretty awful, but are now very similar to the real thing.

I also am a non-alcoholic drinker, People look a little 'sideways' at you when you ask for Lemonade, etc, Why don't you ask for a Tonic water. You could be drinking Gin, who's to know! Mind you it does contain Quinine! (very good for cramp!) Tomato Juice with a drop of Worcestershire sauce in it makes a good drink before Dinner too.

I have tended bar all over the US, but don't drink. I am perfectly satisfied with seltzer and lime, when I am at a cocktail party, though most competent bar tenders (harder to find than you'd think) can make a Virgin Mary, if you want something with more substance. I used to have a regular client who drank Virgin Sunrise on a regular basis (OJ with a drizzle of grenadine), but I think that would probably fall into the childishly sweet category. I also used to drink cranberry with seltzer and lime, which is more tart, provided that only fresh lime is used, and not Rose's Sweetened Lime Juice.

When entertaining at home, I make various herbal beverages. My favorite is very simple, and can be served warm, chilled, or frozen as a sorbet. Very simply, lemon grass stalks are steeped in boiled water for twenty minutes, covered, and then you can add sugar to taste, or skip the sugar. I usually use one cup of sugar, and two cups of water, then freeze it in an ice cream maker, and pour chilled peppermint tea over a few small scoops of it in a tall glass to serve with an elegant brunch, or late night tapas offering. I use far less sugar, if any at all, when drinking straight. If you choose not to freeze it, you can add unflavored seltzer to it, and essentially have a lemongrass soda. This can be done with pretty much any common herb or tea blend. I also recently made a variation of this for a pot luck at my temple, using the same proportions of sugar and water, but substituted two teaspoons of rosewater in place of the lemongrass. Other guests brought various flavors of non-alcoholic champagne, and I have to say, there are plenty of excellent brands out there. Kedeem is good (I like their peach variety), and so is Martinelli (skip the pomegranate, and stick to apple).

Kudos to you for passing on the alcohol. Your liver will thank you!

An all time favorite is home made lemon aid. It beats all the alcohol drinks by miles. I'd prefer it to any of the expensive wines that can cost hundreds of dollars a bottle. Only the extravagantly rich, and the wanna be's ever buy that crap.

Virgin Mary (also known as a "Bloody Shame") ... the same spicy tomato juice that's in a Bloody Mary, complete with the celery stick:)
