Why is the soda at certain Taco Bell's overly sweet?!

Question: Certain Taco Bell's where I live (Seattle) have an overly sweet taste to their soda. It doesn't matter which soda you get, it ends up tasting like liquid candy. Are they adding something for better taste, or is that extra sweet taste a sign of something that shouldn't be in their soda machine?

Well if it's not the syrup, maybe they don't remove and/or soak the caps on the soda machine at night? Then maybe the sweetness from the syrup would get built up on the caps and make anything that came out of it extra sweet... including water, which you mentioned.

Just a theory though.

mention it to the manager. The soda machine mixes syrup with soda water and it may need adjusting.

if it's too sweet they're wasting syrup, so the manager if he/she is smart will fix it.

Say no to soda lol I think they might really have it like that to make you come back for more

Soda from a soda fountain is made by a mixture of syrup and carbonated water. If the ratio of syrup to carbonated water is off and they are putting in too much syrup the soda will taste too sweet.

normal soda comes premixed in a bottle, can, etc, the way that they get their soda is in a bag concentrated, the reason why its so sweet is because the haven't adjusted the mix right = too much concentrated soda and not enough water, have you ever had it where the soda is very weak? that's when they don't use enough concentrated soda flavour

My friend owns a restaurant, all soda machines work the same. Concentrated syrup is added w/ carbonated water. Restaurants with soda machinese have to buy the concentrated syrup from suppliers (pepsi or coke). Places like taco bell have contracts with them, so they HAVE to buy the syrup from them. Also, carbonated water (vs adding water) actually cuts back on the sweetness of sodas.

I've actually had an experience where pure syrup came out of the machines. All they had to do is fix the connection/ adjust the mix ratio. Otherwise, the machine needs to get fixed.

The machines at every fast food or restaurant are set by coke or Pepsi but they need to tell them when there is a problem. Why you say you find most taco bells you go to are one way and another different its probably a different person who services that area. And they don't like it as sweet

they dont' mix the water and syrup correctly.
