For the normal cup of coffee (like the ready made kind at Sheetz)....?!

Question: How many 8oz cups would it take to match the caffeine of a regular size can of Red-Bull energy drink? Red-Bull has 80 miligrams of caffeine. I have heard that Red-Bull can be very bad for your heart, but I see plenty of people drinking alot of coffee, and I want to know the relations between the two. Thanks. =]

It's usually presumed that a regular cup of coffee contains 100mg of caffeine but it may range between 40 and 176 mg and the mean is closer to 85mg. There's probably less caffeine in a cup of tea - one study showed a median of 27mg per cup with a range of 8 to 91 mg.

Well, either way, its bad. Caffeine in general is bad for your heart, in large amounts. No matter where its coming from. Redbull and coffee are no different.

According to about.com, an 8 oz cup has 60 to 120 mg of caffeine. Red Bull also has a lot of sugar and calories.

Because coffee beans are natural and come in a ton of different varieties, there's no set amount of caffeine in them. Even the different roasts can effect the caffeine content. That being said, an 8 ounce cup of coffee generally contains 60-100mgs of caffeine. In other words, a cup of coffee is about the same as a can of red bull.
