Answers: Yes... and I have borrowed as well.. A good neighbor is well worth having. Not only to borrow from but because you need to know your neighbors. Down in southern US we tend to be that way. After Hurricane Katrina my neighbor came to ask if my chickens had laid any eggs as they desperately wanted an egg.. which was hard to come by then. So appreciate your neighbor and hopefully they will appreciate you as well.
My brother is my neighbor and we do that. He will borrow sugar, and ice from me and sometimes I will borrow some eggs from him.

Yep. My 2 neighbors and I borrow back and forth all the time. It's usually a can of soup for a recipe, or eggs. But it has been sugar at times too. Women used to do this back in the 50's especially when most families only had one car and Dad took it to work. it wasn't possible for Mom to get to the store so neighbors borrowed often.
