Anyone know how to make cheap green tea taste better?!

Question: I want to drink green tea but its just so bitter! I have the cheap kind so of course its not going to taste good but i was hoping there was a way to make it taste better so i don't have to waste it. I tried honey and sugar, but it didn't work; any other ideas?

More honey or more sugar, or lemon. green tea is supposed to taste bitter. It's like medicine. You can water it down a LOT, and that will let the sugar or honey sweeten it more. You would probably do well with a more mild tea such as white tea or breakfast blend. Most European Blends are mild.

sugar, honey, lemon, raspberry flavor or oranges

Try adding lemon.

It sounds like you should just bin it and get something better quality (you buy cheap, you buy twice). The trick to good tea brewing it is to brew it in a warmed teapot and for green tea brew it for longer than you would with black tea.

Try making your own. I have a Mr. Coffee iced tea maker and I use 1/2 cup of sugar to 6 Harris green tea bags and brew it. I follow the water directions with the iced tea maker. Delicious You can also add honey in place of sugar. I sometimes add lemon.

have you tried cranberry juice and sugar for sweetness

you might be brewing the green tea incorrectly. do not use boiling water to brew it. Use very hot water. If you are using boiling water, let it cool for a few minutes. YOu also might be brewing it too long. It is supposed to brew for 2-3 minutes tops. Any longer may make it taste bitter. Remember green tea is tea that isn't oxidized very much. Not as much as black tea which can withstand the boiling water and duration of brewing.
