Picked up the wrong type of coffee at the supermarket?!

Question: I bought the type for a cafitiere instead of a filter coffee machine. Can I use it in my machine? What's the difference between the two? I'd feel a bit silly returning it especially seeing as I've lost my receipt, but I don't know anyone else with a cafitiere, so it seems a bit of a waste not to use it.

No problem, most coffees can be used interchangably the only difference between them is how fine the beans are ground. Go ahead.

Try and make it with basic hot water and mugs. then offer it to people and see if they accept. i know nothing about coffee except that i always put heaps sugar in if i have it.

Fairtrade is the right one.

best to take it back - most supermarkets will not mind as long as it is not open.

Cafetiere coffee is not ground as much and so it depends on the design of your machine how well it will work.

It could work just fine but i would still take it back - i have taken stuff back before without receipt and because i just wanted to exchange it there was no problem

take it back,if you act nicely & are polite they will be happy to replace, even without a receipt.a freind of mine took back Christmas mince pies, that were in fact apple pies wrongly packaged.stored in freezer,no receipt.sainsbury's not only changed them, but gave her a £20 gift voucher too! give a go.
supermarkets know what lines they carry & some lines are exclusively theirs.

You can use it in theory, but it wont taste as nice cuz coffee for a cafetiere is ground to be coarser than for a filter machine. Best thing i think is to buy a wee cafetiere, they're not dear and havin coffee out of one(esp on a lazy day breakfast) is lovely!

by all means, return it. they'll give you store credit and you can buy the coffee that you intended to buy.
