STARBUCKS BARiSTAS GETTING TIPS?!
Answers: HOW DO PEOPLE FEEL ABOUT IT? SHOULD THEY GET THEM? WHY, OR WHY NOT?
IF the barista was derserveing, YES they should be tipped!
Aside from poor service,
I can only think of 2 reason why one would
doubt tipping a Starbucks barista....
1. They don't understand the concept of tipping.
Tipping is a way of saying thank you for taking the time to personally serve me. You did a great job. It is a free gift.
2. They view Starbucks as a fastfood chain.
People like Arsinoe have no understanding nor appreciation what it means to be a barista. It is not like McDonalds where they simply press a button and the prefabricated beverage pours out. EVERY drink is different, HANDCRAFTED. You can personalize your beverage and each barista has their own strengths and weaknesses.
Barista competitions are held worldwide, to see who can craft better lattes.....you do not have international McFlurry competitions because it is basically made by a machine.
No, it's their job to make our drinks. That's what they get paid for and we shouldn't have to pay them extra for doing their jobs. I worked at Subway as my first job and didn't get tips for the sandwiches I made, that was my job and I didn't expect any extra money from the customers.
i guess so..doesn't a bartender make you a drink and get a tip?? well, they too are making you a drink of your choice..why shouldn't they?
If I pay in cash I always give at least the change that I give, back to the people that work there.
It think it depends on how they do. If they keep you waiting then no. If they're fast and your drink is good then yes. It's all about the service.
I suppose the same rules applies to them as it does to waiters/servers/bartenders/valet... of course its not mandatory to tip, but many people choose to
Making those coffees is work..for one little drink. I would expect to give a tip. I think those who don't leave tips really haven't had a job in the food industry field or customer service field and then should do it for a day!!
