Could someone explain cupping to me? *coffee*?!

Question: Cupping coffee is much like wine tasting, you're just tasting the coffee a specific way to try and get the flavor profile and aroma of the coffee, along with any other characteristics that can help you determine what the coffee tastes like.

You'd first deeply breathe in the aroma of the coffee, to get the first impression of the coffee and contribute to the taste (a big part of taste actually comes from your sense of smell). Then, you'd loudly slurp the coffee, so that the coffee quickly spreads to the back of the tongue, and you get some air incorporated into the taste. You'll evaluate the coffee in terms of body of the coffee, the acidity, and the flavor profile of the coffee. A professional coffee cupper is called a Master Taster, and they will taste a bunch of coffees in one day, however, they won't swallow the coffee. Need more information? Feel free to ask!
