How to make thick coffee like starbucks?!

Question: How can you brew coffee like the ones they sell in Starbucks? No matter what I do it doesn't come close to their taste.

first of all ditch your auto drip coffee maker. it doesn't heat the water hot enough. the best home option is to get a melitta cone filter. you can find them in the coffee aisle at most grocery stores. all you have to do is boil water on the stove and pour over freshly ground coffee. follow the coffee directions for how much to use and adjust according to your personal taste. the advantages are they are affordable and take up much less space than an auto drip machine.
also buy fresh roasted beans, i.e. less than two weeks old. most beans at the supermarket aren't dated so you don't know how old they are. personally I wouldn't buy beans w/o knowing when they were roasted.
keep them at room temp in an airtight container and grind only what you need when you brew. this will give you a great cup of coffee as good as anything you can get at a cafe and better than anything you can get at charbucks.

coffee shouldn't be "thick", but yours may not be strong enough (although, personally, I think Starbuck's is too weak) .... Get a GOOD coffeepot (forget Mr. Coffee) and some GOOD coffee (forget canned or instant stuff)... I recommend any Cuisinart coffeepot. And you can buy FRESH beans at any grocery store, either ground, or grind them yourself - or buy them at Starbuck's (you can get the blend that you like there - I like Komodo Dragon, but it's very strong) ...
