Juice or Kool-aid?!

Question: My husband and I are having a dispute over drink choices for our 3 year old. He says sugar free Kool-aid is better than juice because juice has so much sugar. I feel like water would be best but at least juice has some nutritional value. He says water has no flavor and kool-aid is better than juice. Can anyone give their opinion on this and back it up with any websites if possible.

Water is the best choice. Also your child should drink some milk, for a 3 yr old most doctors recommend 2%. Juice does have a ton of sugar, you can give your son a little juice once a day but water it down, half and half water and juice, if your son gets used to this he won't know the difference and he is not consuming all that sugar. If kids eat fruits and vegetables they don't need the nutrients from the juice, plus you should be giving him a children's multi-vitamin which will ensure he is well nourished. I would not give my kids sugar free kool aid on a regular basis, children should not consume artificial sweeteners, health wise it would be better to occasionally allow him to have full sugar kool aid, but if you don't offer kool aid to him in the first place he won't know what he's missing.

l0l bothh.. red koolaid is the best... but i love juice.. im not a soda person at all... MINUTE MAIDE BERRY JUICE IS SOOO GOODD.

i personally think that juice is better because like you said it has nutitional value but kool-aid is a treat for a 3 year old

You shouldn't give a growing child sugar free anything, it has chemicals added that their little bodies don't need. You can give him no sugar added apple juice or cranberry juice, (it only has the sugar found in the natural fruit) and mix it half and half with water, I do that myself and it is plenty sweet enough. Kool aid vs. juice? no contest.

The sugar in juice is fructose. It is NOT the same type of sugar that you would find in candy. Humans need some amount of fructose to maintain a healthy life. I recommend giving him juice. Whatever type he wants, but make sure it's real juice.

Juice has alot of natural sugar. Your aactually supposed to water down jiuce for kids about 50/50 but I just do half ice in their sippy cups (my kids are 3 and almost 1) i have never given them koolaide, i dont even buy it. i would say jiuce is better b/c it can give them some of their servings of friut for that day.
Try jiucey jiucey's harvest surprise (watered down or with crushed ice) it has servings of veggies in it too but still tastes sweet like friut juice

I agree with you water would be the best. But if i had to choose between kool-aid and juice I would choose juice, but I would still dilute it with water.

i say juice
