Does anybody else think Starbucks is evil?!

Question: I miss my local coffee shops, and all I see are Starbucks. Charging $5 a coffee seems ridiculous, not to mention stores opening in foreign countries, like the Forbidden City in China (this project was axed before it took off by the Chinese gov.) Is nothing sacred? What's your take?

It is the economy. Starbuck's is just like any company. They want to make money and expand. Some coffee businesses make it and some close. It is the life of business and economy of the times.

What are you ranting about? What does China have to do with Starbuck's? And how can a coffee store chain be "evil?" .... just go somewhere else for coffee, or make it at home

well, im a conspiracy freak, so i think the U.S government is doing all this on purpose, to get our money, because they know we will all pay 5 bucks for a flippin cup of coffee, especially cities like new york where there is a starbucks on every corner. The economy is ridiculous. 3.50 something for gas and 5.00 for a small coffee. It's shameful!

Not all the drinks are $5. most are $2 to $3. And the mocha frappuccino is to die for!

I'm liberal too, but this is ridiculous. Starbucks is a great company, and they treat their employees very well too. What is not to like about them? Screw the other coffee shops, it's not their fault they can't keep up with the goodness of them.

Well, they must be evil to put THAT much nutmeg in the chai .. surely!

.. Ok, seriously.
I don't think a corporation has the ability to be actually good or evil. It would take 100% of the employees acting instinctively good or evil, towards a common goal.

Corporations have a common goal to make money, but that is not evil or good in itself. What you will do to other people, to reach your goal, defines good or evil.

It's easy to get a collective to do good, as one - it's extremely hard to make a collective act evil, because evil springs from egoism.

Starbucks is not evil. If you don't like Starbucks, don't spend your money there, go to your local coffee shops. Does someone have a gun to your head making you go to Starbucks? I don't get it.

ps. Don't believe everthing you read in the news either. It's not always true. Make your own decisions and don't be swayed by others.
