Why does a company like Starbucks, that specializes in coffee make such poor quality tasting coffee?!

Question: That's why they are financially crumbling. They make overprice crap.

Answers: That's why they are financially crumbling. They make overprice crap.

Everyone has their own tastes.

I think Starbucks is quite good. Most of the people I know like Dunkin' Donuts coffee or Tim Hortons, both of which disgust me.

To each his own.

I like their frappachinos but I'm not really a coffee drinker so I can't say either way, I know they burn their beans though, some people find that yucky but I do like the smell :)

good question ... and their employees really don't know very much about coffee either, except for what they are actually selling ... Possibly because so much of their clientele order "frou-frou" coffee drinks, loaded with flavorings, sugar, whipped cream, etc, so they can't even taste the coffee.....

Some people must like it or they wouldn't keep coming back. If you aren't one of them, get your coffee somewhere else. There are zillions of coffee houses around these days, and you'll soon find one that matches your taste.

I think their coffee is pretty good however rather weak even when adding an extra shot of expresso. On second thought-good point!

according to a consumer reports i read a while back and an interview with a former coffee guru who worked for starbucks...they buy very cheap beans...and slightly overroast them aka burn em....that way you would not be able to tell the quality. that is what he said...who knows.

personally i like Farmers brothers coffee...and its mostly at coffee shops, diners, and breakfast joints.

Why does everyone always have to bash Starbucks? If you don't like it, then go somewhere else. As an employee there, I'm going to speak for ALL of the starbucks employees and say, we don't want to deal with you anyway.

I'm with you - I really don't like coffee at all, in general but I have to admit that the Starbuck's coffee is just plain bitter.

Oh, well. To each his own, I guess.

Maybe it's the coffee beans they use?

All I know is that I've gone into Starbuck's, added three sachets of sugar, a few shakes of chocolate powder, one of cinnamon and nothing helped.

But if you don't like it, just try somewhere else! Lots of coffee places would make coffee that suits your taste :]
