How does any Australian get a hold of root beer?!

Question: I've got some Canadian friends staying here and they talk about root beer. They tried to describe what it tastes like but they made no sense. What does root beer and how does any Aussie get a hold of it? Anyone know of online sites in Australia that deliver it because I can't find it in any supermarkets?

Root beer is not the same as ginger beer, but it is the same as sarsaparilla.

I've seen some asian grocery shops selling root beer in Australia, but its pretty hit-and-miss. You can order American groceries (including drinks) in Australia from this site:

They sell root beer:

I'd get Barq's root beer for your Canadian friends, but A&W is pretty good too.

I've also seen Bundaberg root beer before (the same people who make Bundaberg ginger beer), but I'm not sure if it is widely available.

Hope this helps.

Here try this
http://search.store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/ns...

well its about 5.00 a 12 pack here in nashville tenn so if ya want to you send me 25.00 and ill send ya a 12 pack of root beer, that will include postage, just email me if that what ya want to do and ill give ya my address to send the money and you give me your address to send the root beer

They don't have root beer in Australia? Aw well, at least you guys have Tim Tams. I haven't had those in forever!

I'm not quite sure how to ship root beer down to australia, but I've heard that Ginger Beer is the same thing.

I guess you have to have it shpped in. Maybe there is a specialty soda shop somewhere there. I heard on the radio that real root beer is better than the artificial stuff that billions of people drink. I've never seen the real stuff though.

i know what u mean its really hard to find. ive seen it a couple of times in chinese grocery stores and chinese supermarkets. if u get it from there use a straw to drink it or pour into a glass. its safe but where they store it might be a bit dirty

try sarsaparilla its all moast the same.
thanks chef Richard
