Bottle water vs. filter tap?!

Question: Bottle water vs!. filter tap!?
Someone please help! I don't want to buy bottle water anymore because of all the recent news about bpa and toxins in plastic bottling!. I have an infant and 3 year old and I am very concerned about the safety of their water!.
I wanted to get a water filter but lately read that ALL of U!.S!. water systems contain tons of pharmaceutical drugs that cause potentially dangerous side effects from long-term low dose exposure, Apparenttly the drugs come from sewer water that is pipe back anf filtered into tap water except that the city's filtering process does not recognize nor remove the drug substances!.
I'm having a huge headache now trying to decide what I can do to provide the best water for my children!. I've heard that reverse osmosis system removes the drugs but they cost a lot and wastes up to 6 gallons of water to produce 1 gallon of drinking water!.!.!.not very environmentally friendly for me!.
Anyone have any better ideas!?
thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you are getting some good advice here!. Tap water is as good or better than bottled water!. See below for a link to NRDC report that was very critical of bottled water!.

The best thing is to get your water tested if you are really concern about it!. also, your water supply authority is required by law to send you an annual Consumer Confidence Report (CCR)!. The report will contain chemicals present in your drinking water, the source, how it's treated!.

Some states also require annual source water assessment to determine if there are any possible threats to drinking water supply source!. Sort of a risk assessment to know the level of exposure your water has to harmful chemicals!. Contact your local water supply authority before you take any steps!.

I also want you to know that most municipal wastewater treatment facilities have a federal mandated pretreatment program!. Municipal authorities must require certain indusries to treat their wastewater before they discharge to sewers!.

I have a lot to say here but I can tell you that there are several safeguards to prevent most harmful chemicals from getting into the sewers!. Having said that, the issue of drugs in drinking water is something that needs to be addressed globally!.

In the meantime, contact your local water supplier or get your water tested!. also, avoid water filter sales people who will try to scare you to buy a filter from them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't believe there are any municipal water companies that use treated sewage for the drinking water supply!. If you are concerned about your tap water!. Have it analyzed!. Otherwise the tap water should be perfectly fine for you and your baby!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tap water is perfectly safe!. You don't even need a water filter!. The scientist reporting on the prescription drugs in water on the news said it's like the equivelant of one asprin in 100 olympic-sized swimming pools!. You really have nothing to worry about!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You'd be surprised to know that some times if not most, tap water is the same as bottled (its just that bottled water has been "purified" ) water and why is that well check this link out but I must warn you that some of the contents may be inappropriate and offensive so take a look if you want to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Either, its just water!. No water is ever going to kill you or cut your life short!. I wouldnt waste my money on bottled water while you are at home!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
