How do you know if your Brita water purifier is out of date?!
I have a Brita pitcher, and I've had it for about a year!. And how do I know if its "out of date" and time to buy a new one!?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Mine has an indicator that turns when you need to buy a new charcoal (or whatever) insert!. If that's the kind you have, just buy a 3 pack and use one!. Much cheaper than a whole new system!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The Brita water filter goes by time really, the filter part!. No matter how long you have it, it goes by time!. I have one and I hate it!. I went out and got a filter that goes directly on the faucet!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
They last 1-2 months but I have used mine longer and couldn't tell the difference!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Ive had my filter for a year now too, and still get good clean water!.
But look for the little black particles in your cup whenever you pour the water!.
If you see alot of those, then you should replace the filter because it isn't doing its job too well!.
Good luck! : ]Www@FoodAQ@Com

Since it's just me using it (for general drinking, coffee & tea, boiling, ice making and cooking), my filters last 3 months!. I just change it at the end of every third month (March, June, September, December)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
When you buy your filters it tells you how many liters of water one filter will be good for, and the time will depend on how many people in your family, what all you use the water for!. Once you've figured out your consumption, you can approximate how many months to run through that many gallons/liters of water, and then set the little indicator on top to let you know when it's time for a new one!. (Or as someone said if you use a lot of water, investing in a filter for the faucet is also ideal, and that filter needs to be changed too of course)Www@FoodAQ@Com
