Can you buy coarse ground coffee or do you need to grind it yourself to get coarse?!

Question: Can you buy coarse ground coffee or do you need to grind it yourself to get coarse!?
I need to get coarse ground coffee and I don't know if I can just buy it at the store or if I need to buy the beans and grind it myself!. If I need to grind it myself, any idea on how long to grind it to make it coarse!?

Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I work at Starbucks as a manager and my suggestion to you is go to the coffee shop you like and buy whole bean and ask them to grind it for you or most large grocery stores have a grinder where you can grind your own beans (there will be settings going from coarse to fine)!. The reason I suggest this is because most home "grinders" have have blades so you are really just cutting your beans not grinding them!. Grinders that large companies have (grocery stores and coffee shops) will have a burr that will actually grind the beans and the taste will be much better!. My final suggestion would be not to use coarse ground beans unless your are using a coffee press and if your are using a coffee press, Great! Nothing makes coffee taste better than a press!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am pretty sure all the mass market coffees (like Folgers, MJB, etc!.) have an "all purpose grind" that will work in percolators!. Read the side of the can!. I often use the "singles" when I camp!. That way you need less hardware (I backpack mostly) with you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you need it really course, you could buy the beans at store and then grind them there!. Most stores have grinders with a number of different settings (from course to espresso fine)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
