Coffee contains antioxidants, which help to slow down and avert the damage done to cells through the process of metabolizing oxygen!. Espresso is especially high in antioxidants because it is a strong coffee and because of the preparation process!. Espresso is forced through a press or filter under high presure but only once, so the excessive oils and undesirable elements of the coffee grounds do not enter the coffee!. Some studies appear to indicate that people who drink coffee have a lower risk of developing certain diseasses such as Parkinson's Disease and colon cancer!. However, coffee consumption is not absolute garuntee that those who drink it will not develop these diseases!.

Coffee also appears to increase mental alertness!. A lot of people experience relief from headaches from drinking coffee!.

On the down side, coffee can increase the risk of heart dieseasse if drunk in excess (of about three or four cups a day)!. I have heard that it was associated with pancreatic disease, but I do not think that any solid evidence has ever proven it!.
