IMO a functioning alcoholic does manage every day tasks and responsibilities, doesn't go to jail or lose driving privileges, maintains a household and a job, pays bills in a timely fashion and contributes in some way to their local community, but also drinks every day and at times in excess!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Know a couple that might be considered functional - they drink ever day but have managed to space it out so they can work and know when not to drive!. They tend to have a couple final drinks before going to bed and sleep it off until breakfast beer!. Still fall down and break things including their own bones!. If they can support themselves and not do something so stupid as to attract police attention or get killed then you could say they are functional!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
