I noticed that it depends on the tea bag!. My favorite, Tazo Passion tea is fresh and steeping only 3 - 4 minutes is enough!.
We have some OLD tea bags and I could soak them all day and there would still be no flavor and the tea gets more bitter!.

It depends on the kind of tea, for green tea or white tea you should steep for 7 minutes, for black tea you should steep for 5 minutes, and for red tea you should steep for 3-5, depending on the brand on tea!.
