The carbon dioxide gas that makes the fizz is lighter than air and will dissipate when the container is open!. If left open the drink will go flat!. How did you prove different!? You can shake a fizz drink that is unsealed for hours and when you open it (be very careful where you point the drink) all the fizz (gas) will vanish in a gush!. This tells me and others that experienced this that the gas is still in the drink!.

If the bottle or can is open then yes it does go flat, in which case you answered your own question!. If your container is closed and sealed and you wait 'til the foam goes down then no carbon dioxide was lost and therefore your carbonated beverage has not truly lost it's fizz!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you shake a open can or bottle yes all the gas (or fizz) will escape but if the can or bottle is well sealed the only the amount of gas to fill the empty space will be released and the rest of the soda will remain fizzy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

only if the container is open!. if it is a sealed container then it will not go flat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes it does!. That's why they often times tell you to stir soda before drinking it when you have an upset stomach to do away with the bubbles!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes it goes completely flat, common knowledgeWww@FoodAQ@Com
