Can a person die from drinking too much water?!

Question: Can a person die from drinking too much water!?
I've always heard this, but was never sure!. I know a kid who took ecstacy and literally drank himself to death with water!. How much water would someone have to drink in a single sitting in order to keel over!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Any substance is poison, but it depends on the quantity before it will kill a person!.

The amount that you would have to drink depend on a lot of things such as weight, height, body fat etc!.

It would be in excess of 10 litres though, in a short space of time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes in fact, anyone, of any age can die from drink too much water!. I live in the Boston area, and during the Boston Marathon a a few years ago, a 28 year old, healthy marathon runner dropped dead from too much fluid intake!. See the article below!. They say the specific complication she faced was rare, but the actual event of consuming too much water can still result in potentially serious consequences!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes thats true!. ecstasy does not allow you to pee, it does not make u have the 'tingle' to pee and if it does, its VERY hard to!. you will need to be sitting on the toilet, thinking about it very very hard with no distractions then it will come out, after a couple minutes of sitting there!. ofcourse wen not on ex it takes no more then about 20 seconds to pee wen ur on ex itl take about 2 minutes!.

ddying from drinkngi too much water is called hydrohydration!. youll have to drink allot, about a gallon in an hour or two or so!. ofcourse if you drink a gallon in an hour or two wen ur not on ex ur most likely not going to die because ull have the urge to pee every 10 minutes and youll b able to without problem!. no peeing + drinkng allot of water = flooding and swelling your internal organs including your brain!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yupp, very very possible!. I recall a recent incident, when the Nintendo Wii had just launched, a radio station held a contest called "Wee for Wii" or something to that effect in which the contestants had to drink glasses of water without peeing, and whoever drank the most without peeing would win the Wii!. This woman drank 80+ glasses of water, and she died!Www@FoodAQ@Com

i dont know how much it would take, but yes, it can happen!. Im a nurse and its from over working your kidneys!.
A girl was on a radio station and to win a game, they had to drink XX amount of water to win a prize, the person that drank the most, won something!.!.!. anyways, she died because her kidneys gave out!. if you think about it, kidneys filter your system of toxins, if you make it work harder and harder over a short period of time!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you drink 3 gallons in 10 minutes, you may suffer from overhydration, and many cells in your body will swell and burst, and you will die!. Luckily, It's physically impossible to drink three gallons of water in 10 minutes, since you're more likely to throw up after maybe one and a half gallon!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes you can!. I can understand why some people are saying no, logically you wouldn't think you could and I didn't believe it myself either the first time I heard it!. My friend didn't believe it either and so we did an experiment!. Her idea, so she did it!. We found out that it's not really how much you drink, it's how much you drink in a short amount of time!. You have to do it quicker than your body can process it!. I forget how many glasses she drank before she started feeling the effects of it!. She said she felt like she was drunk, which we later found out that's because it swells your brain tissues!. She couldn't see good and passing bouts of blindness, she was nausious (sp!?) and it scared me so bad I took her to he hospital where they had to give her a saline IV and keep her for a little while!. She had drank enough that it was almost serious!.!.!.the doctors told us that usually you can fix it by just stop drinking water and let your body process it all, but she was bad enough that they thought she needed the saline!.

It's pure craziness!. Who would think water would do that!? Trust me, it's true!. Don't try it at home, kids!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!.!.!.!.There was an actual contest a couple months back, where Mother's had to drink as much bottled waters as they could, so they could have the chance to win the new WII game for their child, or children!. One women did win, but she lost her life!.!.!.!.Sounds pretty stupid huh! I hope the family is enjoying their WII!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm pretty sure!. Too much of anything is a bad thing!. A few years ago I heard of a guy who drank about 8-10 liters of water and died!. A preschool teacher told me this, and she wouldn't let her kids drink more than one dixie cup of water at a time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
