Answers:
BPA is an extremely carcinogenic chemical!. Causing, neurological, reproductive and developmental problems!.

It is an ingredient in hard plastic like baby bottles and water bottles (and jugs)!. It has been proven that the BPAs dissolve in liquids that the bottles hold!. They dissolve into the formula and into your drinking water even if it isn't boiled!. Putting extremely hot water into plastic will ensure that all bad things go into your safe boiled formula water!.

In canada there was a recall of ALL plastic baby bottled for that reason, just last month!. In the states it was an 'optional' recall!.

DO NOT PUT BOILING WATER into a hard plastic jug, to fill the plastic bottles!.

If you want to cool down the water real fast!. Put into glass or cup and put that into a bowl of cold water to cool it down fast if your child needs it now!. Then wait for the rest of the water to cool naturally!.

Yes, it will melt! The only really safe way to do such a really foolish thing is to put the jug into a pan with water in it, fill up the jug, and then let the whole thing boil!. The jug will just get kind of spongy, but will probably not melt!. You put the jug on the burner and it will burn, and the water will spill all over the stove!.

A better idea is to fill a pan with water, boil it, and then put it into the jug!. Good luck with this one!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The jug won't actually "melt" but it will deform so I would let it cool a few minutes first!.

I have, while camping, tried to pour boiling water straight into heavy plastic containers!.!.!.they deformed quite a bit so I now let the water cool just a bit first!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I dont think so!. On that show Survivorman he once boiled water in a plastic water bottle and that didnt melt!. So I think you'd be ok!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It depends on the plastic, if its thick it should be ok, just be very carefulWww@FoodAQ@Com

yes it will melt, if your in hurry try to boil 10 onces first then buy for 10 gallons of purified after!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
