Well a gallon will serve 16 servings of 8 ounces!. Not everybody will want tea though!. Depending on how long it goes you can estimate that the tea drinkers will have 2 each!. It also depends on how many other drinks there will be too!.

I would think a regular 5 gallon cooler would be enough!. However, knowing me I would then take 10 gallons and have 5 left over or if I took only the 5 I would run out half way through!. I never get this right!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Assuming that some ice is for storing beverages in, some for putting into beverage cups, some for storing potato salad, coleslaw and other dishes that should be kept cold!.!.!. I'd say 8-10 gallons should do it!. Just be ready to run out and get more if needed!.

FYI- I've neve rthought of ice in "gallons", so this an estimate!. I would normaly say about 5-8 "big bags"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If this is the only beverage you have available then let us look at it mathematically:

Let's say one glass is 16 oz!. and everyone will drink two glasses!. That is 32 oz!. 40 people times 32 oz!. equals 1280 oz!. There are 128 oz in a gallon!. 1280 divided by 128 equals 10 gallons!. If you have other beverages then you might want to reduce that accordingly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should bring at least 8 but just in case 10!. Better to have too much than not enough!. Since it is an outside, it will be hot and people will be drinking more!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

10 gallons if you consider eat person to drink about 2 glasses eachWww@FoodAQ@Com

10 Gallons!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Five should be plenty unless it happens to be really hot that day!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

what other drinks are you serving, I'd say 10Www@FoodAQ@Com
