When making green tea, is it best to boil the water or just use hot water?!
Someone told me just use hot water, but every package of tea says use boiling water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
boil the water but only half fill the cup!. Then put in the teabag/leaves and then fill the cup up to the top with tap water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
For the best results and to keep most of the health benefits you do not want the water to be boiling!. It has to be hot but not boiling!.
I have not read all packages but I remember a loose leaf green tea package that specifially said to not boil!. There is no difference between baged tea and loose tea so for these others to say boil it when they know darn well and good that it will damage the nutrients is simply dumb!.
But then this could be a sign of them jumping on the band wagon of selling green tea to make money cause it is so popular now and they actually don't know anything about health and nutrition!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Never drink or cook with hot tap water!. The insides of a hot water heater contain metals that can, and do corrode!. Some of the pipes in your home that are not made of PVC may have lead soldering!. Hot water will dissolve metals, especially lead, much quicker than cold water will!. Not to mention that over the years of daily use of drawing gallons throughout the day in cycles causes the water from the local utility, with all of it's impurities to collect and precipitate in the bottom of the hot water heater!. This is a prime breeding ground for bacteria!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The green tea is best to boil rather then just put in hot water because all of the flavor from the tea bag is being mixed in while with the hot water you just put the tea bag in and thats it!. Some people believe that it tastes better then the other!. On the package they are recommending it for best taste!. I would go with the boiling water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I think the best way id boiling the water, once its boiling turn off the heat and add the tea bags or leafs and let it sit for a few minutes covering the pot with the lid or a ceramic plate!. When you boil the tea bags or leafs the vapors will evaporate all the good nutrients the tea has!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Whenever you are infusing any variety of tea, you should ALWAYS have the water boiling, or you will find that many of the leaves will just float on the surface, and you will lose some of the flavour of the brew!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
