Yes so can coffee!. 2 ways!. Hot tea or coffee both add fluid to the body which helps cooling and may lead to perspiration which also helps cool!. This is especially true if the tea or coffee is black with just a bit of sugar or lemon!. Too sweet or too milky take away from the cooling effect!. Herb teas with mint and/or lemon or rosehips also help by adding voytamin C which doesn't cool you so much as it does help your body not be so depleated by the heat!. Iced tea and iced coffees are also very cooling again providing they are not too sugary or milky!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, it can!.
Hot tea is cooling on a hot day mainly because it causes the body to lose sweat!. Sweating is one of the body's main cooling mechanisms!. When liquids evaporate, they need energy in the form of heat!. If, like sweat, they are on the skin, then they use the body's heat to evaporate, so the body loses heat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hot tea!?
If we drink liquids, or eat foods, that are colder than our body temp then our body goes into heat up mode to warm them up before it can use it or start digesting it!. This is the last thing you want to do when you are hot from heat or exertion or both!.
If a drink is warmer then your body can use the liquids it needs sooner and won't warm up as much!. If it is hotter then our bodies tend to shut down to let it cool down!. Same with hot food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

did you know that people who live in the desert drink and enjoy hot tea!? yes, it keeps them well hydrated!. And in the desert, they all do not have ice boxes and freezers!. Just because a hot drink feels hot to your tongue, to your body, it is very refreshing!. And some people enjoy hot drinks on hot days!. I think we're so used to drinking cold drinks to refresh us, we're not used to drinking hot drinks like hot tea and hot coffee!. I am though!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yeah it sure does!.
A hot drink such as tea or coffee can cool your system - as your body heats up, the surrounding tempearture seems cooler!. This confuses your body into cooling & slow down sweat glands!.
Your friend aint so dumb after all!
