Tea strainers?!

Question: Tea strainers!?
My tea strainer is one of those mesh ones!. But my favorite tea (which I haven't been able to find in bags, only loose) is very fine, and half of it goes right through the mesh!. Do coffee strainers work for tea!? I don't drink coffee, so I don't want to bother buying a bunch of them if it's not going to work!. Or any other suggestions!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
i have both of these items

The Ingenuitea pictured here http://www!.adagio!.com/

Tea infuser from Crate and Barrel http://www!.crateandbarrel!.com/family!.asp!.!.!.

both are sure to catch your tea, but I prefer the Ingenuitea!. It's such a great item

I suppose you could use coffee filters, but if you will drink tea for a long time, invest in one of these items!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

HI Eri,

You have a good idea!.!.!.!. but what you would need to buy are the coffee filters!.!.!. not coffee strainers!. You can get the smaller sized filters!.!.!. name brand is Melitta and they are 1/2 the size as the larger filters!. You could also try a couple of layers of cheese choth!. But I really do like your coffee filter idea as they should be perfect for straining loose and fine tea!. I think I will try your idea as well!.!.

Thanks for reading!. :))Www@FoodAQ@Com

there's no reason why they shouldn't!. tea bags are essentially leaves stuffed inside little coffee filters!. also, i worked in a restaurant that brewed iced tea by tossing a scoop of looseleaf tea into a coffee filter and running the machine!.

the only concern is how messy and wasteful using coffee filters for each cup could become!. if you look around a little online, you'll find different products specially made for fine-ground tea!.

if you can't find anything to your liking, contact the company that makes the tea and ask them what they recommend!. while you're at it, ask them why they make it so darn hard for you to brew a cup without sludge in the bottom!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
