Just opened up a can of "old" sweetened condensed milk? What is it supposed to look like anyway?!

Question: Just opened up a can of "old" sweetened condensed milk!? What is it supposed to look like anyway!?
Is this stuff supposed to have a consistancy of milk!? or of caramel!? It's very very thick!? Is it supposed to be yellow and very thick like yogurt!? It's dated Dec 2007, but I plan to use it to make a home made fudge sauce for my brownies, so I just needed to know if it's supposed to be thick and yellow or not!? Or has it become thick and yellow because it's 7 months old!?
I read that it can last for years in a can unopened though!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
yes, it's supposed to be super thick!. I'd say almost the consistency of honey or caramel!. A lot of times it will be a little yellow as well!. It's sounds to me like it's fine!. It last a long time and I have only ever opened one that was bad after many years on the shelf!. I'd say you're safe after only 7 months!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, it is supposed to be thicker and a vanilla color as opposed to white!.!.!.not a milk at all really!. It should be just fine to use!. You can always call the consumer telephone number on the can, if there is one and they will answer any questions you might have and sometimes they will provide you with a coupon!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's still good although it may be yellow and gluey!. The protein in the milk slowly develops over time which thickens it and gets it to yellow!.

Dec 2007 is not very long past use by date as far as the milk is concerned!. It was probably made Dec 2006!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Anything that has all that sugar in it is not very hospitable to germs!. Being a half a year out of date is not a problem!. It will still taste great and be germ free!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Thick, yellowish and smooth is the way it supposed to be, you'll love it , give it a try!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, it is thicker and yellower than whole milk!. If it was spoiled, you'd know it!. It should be fine to use in your recipe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it it supposed to be yellowish and very thick, so it should be fine, kind of like thick runny frosting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
