What do you usually call soft drinks?!

I read in a magizine that differnet areas of the U!.S!. call it different things!. In the Northeast, it's "pop" and in the South, it's "Coke" or "Cola", and in the Plains area, it's "soda" or "soda pop"!.

I say Soda!. People that aren't from my area usually refer to soft drinks as pop and actually, one person asked me, "What is a soda!?" I thought that was ridiculous!. Even if they don't use that word in their vocabulary, they should have heard it sometime within their 19-20 years of living, you know!? When I was young I heard people calling Soda, Pop!.!. but that's not how I was raised to call it!. So, I call it what I have been calling it since my toddler years! When my sister went to college years ago, people expected her to conform to their vocabulary of calling Water "WO-TERR" instead of how we say it here, "WOOD-ER"!. I don't care how other people saying things or what they call it, but I want them to know that they shouldn't expect me to change the way I talk after so many years when this is how people talk in my area!. I wouldn't expect anyone else to change the way they say things (unless they HAD to for a job) because that's like asking a person to change who they are!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tonic!.

I have always lived in the Boston area, and that's what it's called here!. If I am talking to someone else who lives here, or a family member, I will say "tonic"!.

But for a wider audience (like here, for instance), I'll usually type "soda" so they will know what I'm talking about!. I never say "soda" out loud, though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well I'm from south africa and it seems to be the norm for us to say cooldrink/s

We dnt soda or colas and when we refer to a coke we mean an actual coke(original), and not just a soft drink in general

in arkansas we call everything coke or sodapop!. its an old fun argument from college since we had ppl there from ks, pa, wa, fl, nv, mo,ms and everywhere else!. every1 would always ask me bc i was the only arkie there!.(small mennonite college in ks)Www@FoodAQ@Com
