What do you mean you can't afford to send him back!? It's FREE! If he has a serious problem then he NEEDS to get help to quit!. My dad was is an alcoholic and he has been sober for about 10 years now!. Your mother needs to take the alcohol out of the house!. And she needs to tell him that unless he tries to fix his problem for good shes going to pack up and leave with the kids (if they are old enough)!. Childeren don't need to be exsposed to that anyways!. Especialy if it's their father!. I know it's sad but he needs a wake up call!.
But to tell you the truth, you aren't ever going to get him to quit unless he wants to quit!.
Have you tried to set up and Intervention!? or something!. Try getting all of the kids in the room with him and ask him to quit!. He needs something to shake him up and realize how big of a problem this really is!.
Most people won't admit they havea problem or try to get help untill they have hit bottom!. So sometimes you just have to wait for that person to do that!. Even if it hurts to watch him!. He isn't going to quit for anyone but himself!. You just have to make him see how bad he is, and how much he needs to change!.

He should continue to go to AA meetings, but it sounds like he should go to rehab, too, if at all possible!. The previous answerer is right, he needs to call his AA sponsor everytime he feels like he needs a drink!. You may want to consider finding an Al-Anon meeting in your area!. It's an organization devoted to supporting the friends and family of alcoholics!.
I wish you all the best!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, there is always hope!. He needs to go to AA faithfully and follow their 12 step program!. When he gets the urge to drink, he neede to call another member for support!.You and/or your mom need to go to AlAnon!.

No one said it would be easy, but the sooner he starts attending AA meetinge, the sooner he'll be sober!.!.Others have succeded!. He can, too!. It takes patience and discipline!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
