I need some help on energy drinks.?!


Question: I need some help on energy drinks!.!?
Im 13, normally drink monster or java monster, or nos energy drinks!. I know everyone keeps saying energy drinks are bad because its loaded with sugar, so that's why i get the low carb(sugar free i think, it doesn't have any calories so i don't think it has sugar anyway)!. i just want to know if it is good to drink them, because they taste good to me, and caffeine doesn't affect me at all, (by that i mean it doesn't make me crash and it doesn't make me hyper, but it does wake me up and give me an adrenaline rush all night)!. it also doesn't affect my sleeping either!. also i only drink it once a week, normally friday or saturday, sometimes on both days!. but i never drink more than 2 a day, and its very rare for me to drink 2 in one day, actually i haven't drank an energy drink in awhile!. im also hoping to join track this year, im gonna do shot put and discus, so i didn't know if an energy drink would help!. i do remember when i was 11-12 years old i drank an energy drink called kronik, and it gave me lower back pain!. i don't know if it just made me tense up or what, but at that time i did pull, or i might have torn a lower back muscle, i went to the chiropractor for it and he fixed it, but either way i just wanted to know if energy drinks would be good for you or not!. sorry for the incredibly long information :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Caffeine dehydrates us!. When dehydrated we become tired and get headaches and can get other aches and pains in our bodies too!. Otherwise Kronik or whatever it was would not cause you the back pain you experienced!. While it is ok to have an energy drink before sports or working out it is more critical to drink water too!. The last thing we want to do while exerting ourselves is to be dehydrated!. Before my workouts and only if they are going to be an hour or more is to drink an energy drink and 2 glasses of water!. Less then an hour and it is just a glass of water!.

Caffeine does not cause you to be hyper or to crash anyhow!. Only sugar does that!. Now the dehydrating effects of caffeine can intensify a sugar crash if you do not drink extra water to offset it!.

Caffeine does NOT stunt your growth!. Anybody who says that is a moron and should be given a thumbs down!.

As far as the sugar goes energy drinks have about as much or even less than sodas do!. As far as caffeine they have less then coffee!. While energy drinks still have a lot of sugar and caffeine they are not worse than sodas and coffee for those reasons!. However it is the total amount of all of the stimulants in them that can cause them to be a problem if too many are consumed!. We should never have more than 2 servings in a day!. Even the makers of the drinks make this recomendation including the healthy energy drinks!. Monsters are 2 servings already so you should not have more than one can a day!.

Energy drinks also will NOT give you irregular heart beats or any crap like that!. True, they do elevate the heart rate!. But the problems that people have like that are because they have an existing heart problem that only arrises when their heart rate is elevated!. This happens much more often during sports or exercise!. It is in no way caused by the energy drink!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Since you plan to join a sport,I think you should quit until the season is over!.

But drinking them once a week is perfectly fine!.

The reason Kronik probably gave you back pain was because your body isn't fully developed & it can't take caffeine!.I'm 16 & I drink Monster,but my body is pretty developed!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your best bet is to avoid energy drinks all thogether, unless your doing lots of activity and need an extra boost!. But remember to keep hydrated and balanced with a 2:1 ratio of water to caffeine!. also if you are drinking them once a day try to limit it to one serving, or maybe even once a week! Www@FoodAQ@Com

energy drinks are bad for you, they stunt your growth,
instead of drinking all of that crap with no nutrition, you should try eating protein and carbs
peanuts, rice, noodles, all nuts really!.

Energy drinks are only good when you really really need the energy!. If you drink them because of the taste, I'd try and back off!. You are still young and your body is still at a stage where it's growing!. Those chemicals aren't good for growing bodies!.

Save the energy drinks for when you're in college and you have to cram for 4 midterms in one week, like me :)

I know that they taste good, and you don't think that caffeine affects you, but it most likely will in some way!. It can stunt your growth and affect your brain and health!. It can be very bad if you're only 13!. I would advise not drinking it, even without sugar!. I'd be more worried about the caffeine than the sugar!.
I'm into sports and I would feel bad if I had to rely on an energy drink to succeed!. Thats not very sportsman like!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I drink energy drinks before partying or studying just to help me wake up and stay awake!.

I would not advise you to drink an energy drink and then work out!. That's the cause of many accidental deaths amoung high school and college athletes!. Rather it's low carbs or not it's still high in sugar and if you don't want the sugar then buy sugar free!. Either way it'll get your heart rate up and if you're working out then the rate should already be up and putting the two together is not wise nor healthy!.

If the drink gave you lower back pain it could have caused a minor kidney problem!. Lower back pain is usually a sign of a kidney problem!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
