What can you use a coffee pot for besides coffee?!
I'm a bored college student with a coffee pot sitting in my room!. I obviously use it for coffee, but am trying to think of other things to make with it!.!.any ideas!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Coffee recepticles have created an oily residue on their surface over time !. It's the equivilent of a "seasoned" cast iron pan!. And you don't want to loose that!. Conversely you don't want the "coffe oil" to mix with soup or anything else you may have considered cooking in it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It's a hot water generator, so anything you need hot water for, you can use!. A coffee maker will heat up water and automatically steep coffee grounds for a short period of time!. So anything that fits that description would theoretically work!.
The main problem is if you use paper filters, which soak up a lot of the oils and other subtle flavors that other hot-water type foods & drinks need (it does this with coffee too, which is the reason why it doesn't taste as good with a paper filter)!.
If you have a permanent, washable filter, you can make tea, soup stock and hot cocoa (with water only)!.
With a paper filter, you could probably poach or soft-boil some foods, like eggs, apples & other fruits, and some meats!. Make sure it cooks thoroughly, though!. No one wants to experiment with a tepid coffee maker only to get food poisoning!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
