At this time of year---hot apple cider!
Large Crock Pot
2 quarts apple cider
1 cup pineapple juice
1 cup orange juice
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1/8 tsp salt
8 whole cloves
4 unpeeled fresh orange slices
4 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks
In a slow cooker, combine the first 6 ingredients!. Push two cloves through each orange slice and one cinnamon stick through center of each orange slice!. Add to cider mix and cover and cook on low for 2-4 hours or until heated through!. Remove orange slices with spices and stir before serving!. Makes 2 1/2 quarts
(can be divided in half for a small crock pot/party)
Or just take 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 tsp whole cloves, 1 tsp whole all spice and put them in a double thickness of cheesecloth; bring up the corners of the cheesecloth and tie with string to form a bag!. Mix 2 quarts apple cider with 1/2 cup packed brown sugar in a slow cooker!. Add the cheesecloth bag with spices and one medium orange sliced on top!. Cover and cook on low for 2-4 hours then remove the orange slices and spice bag, stir and serve!.
