It is VERY much a trend for food companies to reduce the content of their products instead of raising prices!.
They believe it will be much more palatable and acceptable for consumers, and in their minds they're pulling one over on people, in order to avoid offending them!.
It's really offensive, however, to me, and a form of sneakiness!. As Obama starts his anti-business agenda ("share the wealth," heatlth insurance at gun-point and minimum wage hikes), look for drastic reductions in quantities and portion sizes in addition to higher inflation and unemployment!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It actually has more to do with the environment than "pulling one over" on the consumer, although, most of them should be investigated because they are charging the same price for less product!. Wal-Mart recently announced it was going to "pressure" its suppliers to create more environmentally friend packaging that would not pollute or clog up the landfills so much!. Well, the suppliers responded, by creating smaller packages/quantities yet keeping the price the same!. For example, Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, used to sell in those trademark tubs, now the tub size has been reduced, yet the price is the same!. Many chip companies are creating smaller bags of chips, and soda companies are switching to the 8-packs as well!. Another reason they switched to the 8-packs is because they supposedly are more "fridge friendly" and fit easier in your fridge than the 12-packs did!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I live in Tampa and I have noticed that Publix & Walmart sell the 8 and 18 packs, for Pepsi products, but not SweetBay!. The 8 pack isn't at much as a 12 pack here though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
