Answers:
Tea is only bad for you if you are sensitive to caffiene or have acid reflux or hypertension!. In fact, tea is a good source of antioxidants!. How much is recommended depends on who you talk to! Some say 4 cups a day but I can only usually handle 1 because of the caffiene!.

Tea is best plain, the sugar and milk add calories and make it a food, not a beverage!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A recent study showed that three cups of tea a day reduces the risk of a heart attack, but it was also found that drinking up to eight cups a day would deliver optimium benefits from polyphenols without affecting sleep quality!. I’m assuming she means that more than eight cups of caffeinated tea would affect your sleep quality, since caffeine-free teas like herbal teas are not likely to affect your quality of sleep!. That study suggested that four cups of tea a day was better than drinking four cups of water!.

Plus:

* Tea without milk has no calories!. Using semi-skimmed milk adds around 13 calories per cup, but you also benefit from valuable minerals and calcium

* Tea with milk provides 21% of daily calcium requirement in 4 cups

* Tea contains some zinc and folic acid

* Tea with milk contains Vitamin B6, Riboflavin B2 and Thiamin B1

* Tea is a source of the minerals manganese, essential for bone growth and body development, and potassium, vital for maintaining body fluid levels

* The average cup of tea contains less than half the level of caffeine than coffee!. One cup contains only 50mg per 190ml cup

* Tea is a natural source of fluoride and drinking four cups makes a significant contribution to your daily intake

* Green and black teas are from the same plant, Camelia sinensis, and contain similar amounts of antioxidants and caffeine

A long extract, but I guess this guy didn't think much of tea!

Home-brewed beer is the cheapest drink that a family can use!. The drink which has come to supply the place of beer has, in general, been tea!. I view tea drinking as a destroyer of health, an enfeebler of the frame, an engenderer of effeminacy and laziness, a debaucher of youth and a maker of misery for old age!. In fifteen bushels of malt there are 570 pounds weight of sweet; that is to say, of nutritious matter, unmixed with anything injurious to health!. In 730 tea messes, there are 54 pounds of sweet in the sugar and about 30 pounds of matter equal to sugar in the milk!. Here are 84 pounds instead of 570, and even the good effects of those 84 pounds is more than overbalanced by the corrosive, gnawing and poisonous powers of tea!.
Tea renders the frame feeble, unfit to encounter hard labour or severe weather, and deducts from the means of replenishing the belly and covering the back!. Hence succeeds a softness, a seeking for the fireside, a lurking in the bed!.!.!. The everlasting dawdling about with slops of tea-tackle gives boys and girls a relish for nothing that requires strength and activity!. The girl that has been brought up merely to boil the tea kettle, and to assist in the gossip inseparable from the practice, is a mere consumer of food, a pest to her employer, and a curse to her husband, if any man be so unfortunate to fix his affections on her!.
A judicious labourer must always have some ale in the house!. And when he is mowing, reaping or at any other hard work, a quart or three pints of really good fat ale is not too much!. Small beer, about half strength, will do for wife and children!.!.!. And home will become the pleasantest place wherein to spend their hours of relaxation!.
