To be honest, the "coffee makers" we know so well are not the best way to make coffee, they are only the best known way, and they were invented for CONVENIENCE, not really for quality of coffee, and its certainly NOT the only way to make coffee!.
For centuries coffee was made with boiled water and some crushed coffee beans / coffee grinds!. The originators of coffee, middle-east nomadic tribes still make it that way!.
As soon as the water just starts to boil, put in the spoon of coffee grinds, and take it of the hotplate right away!. Let it sit for 1 minute, then pour it through a sieve into a coffee cup!.
That draws out more of the qualities of coffee that coffee is famous for, the flavour and the aroma and the cafeine!. Its a shame that people only think of those drip-machines as THE way, its only an invention for convenience, and it became so famous, the vast majority of people un-learned some truths and ways of coffee!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Camp Coffee (also known as boiled coffee)
Method: Remove boiling water from heat and add ground coffee!. Let sit until grounds sink to the bottom, then carefully scoop out coffee with a dipper and pour in your cup!. A steady hand can keep from stirring up the grounds, which I can assure you - you do NOT want in your cup!. Variations: adding a spot of cold fresh water to the sitting pot helps the grinds sink faster, as does tapping the side of the pot with a spoon!.
Taste: Pretty good, considering the low-tech brewing method!.
Pros: A good method for serving multiple people at once, if you have a large enough saucepan or kettle!.
Cons: Long wait time for the grounds to sink!. Messy to clean up!. Very easy to get a mouthful of grounds!. There's also a lot of wasted coffee in the bottom of the pot!.
I was wondering if you have any tea bags!? Carefully slit one (or two) open and lay it flat!. Discard the tea or save for another use!. Lay the tea bag in a wire mesh sieve and add the coffee!. Slowly pour boiling water over the coffee grounds!.
I have a one-cupper coffee maker that looks like a funnel and it came from an outdoor supply store!. You fill the bottom with coffee and slowly pour the water into the funnel!. It makes coffee strong enough to stand a spoon up in, but hey: it's coffee!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Boil water and fill a paper towel with the coffe grounds and if you can still put the paper towel in the old coffee maker and pour the boiling water into it and let it brew into the caraffe (coffee pot) or maybe try using the coffee grounds in paper towel like a giant tea bag!.!.!.but be careful as the paper towel may start to fall apart depending on how cheap they are!.!.!.
OR!.!.!.!.invest $10 at Target or Walmart for a new coffee maker!.!.!.or ask for one from Santa!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was going to suggest a french press, but to do it yourself!.!.!. hmm!. How about a thick amount of paper towel!? bundle coffee in it and pour hot water over it!? It probably won't work, but if it does, I'd be curious to know ;)Www@FoodAQ@Com
look up how a French Press works!. that should work fine!. you could use any kind of very fine mesh, just let the hot water stay with the grounds as long as possible before you filter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
