We bought 3 out of date Oasis drinks - can we take them back?!

Question: We bought 3 out of date Oasis drinks - can we take them back!?
My dad bought 3 bottles of Oasis for my brother because he is ill and he wanted some so he got it from the corner shop!. It turned out to be the wrong flavour so i have drank 2 bottles and it was only when i had finished the second i realised they are out of date!!! It either says July 06 or July 08 but they are still out of date!. If we were to take them back (even thought we have drank 2) would the shop have to accept and give our money back!?

Bit of a boring question but i am bored and just wondered!.

By the way can an out of date drink make you ill!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yes, he should be able to take them back!. They shouldn't have sold them out of date at the end of the day!. I don't know about the finished ones, but I would take them back anyway!.

I would imagine the date would be 08 - had it been 06 then it would be likely that it would have tasted nasty!. However, 4 months out!? I doubt it would make you ill!. Best before dates really just state that a product will be at it's best until that date (and likely a time beyond that)!. After that, it will not be as good as it was, although not inedible!. I would say, though, that I would, personally, class 4 months after that date as well out of date and I wouldn't take it!.

I am sure you can take the unopened one back!. Hopefully you have a receipt!. Even so being a corner store they probably remember your dad!. You can try to get your money back on the opened bottles but I am not sure they will give it!.
But you will never know if you don't try!. I say go for it!.
I really don't think you will get sick!. It is just water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just go for it,if you got the till receipt, shouldnt be to hard!.Guess trying to prove that these were the bottles you bought could be more difficult!.IF it be the corner store, they should remember your Dad!.YOU gotta try though, good luck!.Out of date products, wont hurt you, cause the maker, makes sure they well inside the margin of responsibility!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yikes!

I wouldn't drink the last bottle if I were you, although the "best if used by" date doesn't necessarily mean the drink has gone bad!. If it is unopened and you have a receipt, almost any place wouldn't deny you a refund considering the expiration date has, well, expired!.

Good Luck in all your drinking needs :]Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes

You should take them back and just explain!. You really should take them back because the shop must be prompted remove all other out of date stock from the shelves!.

Thye should apologise to you because you are now worried that they may make you ill!. It is unlikely they will make you it,it is more likely they simply wont taste as nice!. they should also say thank you for telling them about the out of date stock!.

The shop obviously does not have good stock control and I wouldnt go there again if you can help it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It will not hurt you!. Those are just "best if used by" dates!. It does not mean the product is bad!. The school where I am located provides sodas to board members at meetings!. They are usually out of date!.

If the people at the store are good folks I am sure they would refund your money!. It will cost them but they are in business to serve you so if you believe its worth it to you, try!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Out of date times are there to cover themselves!. People that throw things out because they are a day old are mental!. You would be amazed at the amount of waste that is thrown away because of the company putting a date on so they don't get sued!. You will be fine!.

As a goodwill gesture and the hope you don't report them, of course they will change it!. Make sure it is the owner, though!. He might even give you another for free, so long as you don't report him! Just tell him as you said here, and you will get them back!. Check the date this time!Www@FoodAQ@Com
