When you hear Brits and Canadians, etc talk about teatime what does that consist of!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm Canadian, and the only time I've seen 'tea' offered is in historical houses settings, as a kind of hommage to the British heritage!. It is not a tradition followed in most household on a regular basis!.
But to answer your question, tea in the UK is a light meal taken in the afternoon, usually consisting of tea and cake or some other sweet, like an afternoon snack!. The evening meal is usually taken a bit later then in North America, around 7-8 pm or later!.
There is also high tea, which can replace tea and dinner - it is composed of sandwiches, scones, cream and jam, and of course tea!.
And just like in Canada, it is a tradition that is being less and less present, replaced by the '3 meals a day' routine and an earlier dinner!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
