So we're getting really close to finals and I'm not addicted to coffe or anything, but i am depending on it to keep me up these last days before exams!. Does coffee causes break-outs!? Is it a fatty beverage!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Coffee can induced a release of stress hormones, which put you into "fight or flight" mode, hence the faster heart beat and the jitters!. Caffeine also has addictive qualities, and can be difficult to stop mainly because of the headaches - caffeine constricts the blood vessels in your head (that's why headache meds have caffeine) and when regular coffee drinkers give it up, the blood vessels dilate a lot because they temporarily lose their ability to constrict without the aid of caffeine!. If you can get through 3-4 days you'll be fine, but the headaches can be awful!.
Some people claim coffee makes them break out - this is probably also because of the stress hormones!. Think about it, stress is widely known to contribute to breakouts!. If you just drink regular brewed coffee, it's not nearly as bad for you as the sugary lattes!. Just use a moderate amount of sugar, or if you like it extra sweet use splenda or sweetnlow!. And don't use cream, at least use half and half or whole milk and it'll be a lot better for you!.
I'm in my 5th year of college so I totally can relate to the whole cramming and drinking tons of coffee thing during the week before finals!. Just drink it moderately - instead of downing a huge cup of coffee first thing in the morning, get a small cup!. Later in the day, have another small cup!. If you down it all at once, the rush and crash will be more intense, whereas spacing them out will give you a steadier feeling of alertness!. Be sure to drink water too, because caffeine is a diuretic, meaning is causes your body to eliminate fluids faster!. But really, coffee is just fine as long as you don't overdo it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Large amounts of caffeine can make you feel nauseous and give you a headache!. Coffee itself (plain or "black") has no fat or calories!. Adding a milk-based creamer (half-and-half, for example) will add fat, unless it's fat-free!. And, adding sugar adds calories!. The sugar will give you a bit more of an energy rush than just the caffeine!. But, as soon as you body metabolizes it all, your energy level drops very quickly (they call it a "crash")!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
